Domenicali, message to F1 drivers
With the first three races of the season behind us, F1 took advantage of the spring break to take stock of the new regulatory cycle. As with all new things, there is something to save and other aspects that need to be addressed: safety and qualifying are the topics at the center of meetings among the various Circus stakeholders.

It is not in the interest of FIA and F1 to “go straight ahead” without listening to two of the main architects of the success of this discipline: fans and drivers. It is no coincidence that the latter participated in an online meeting with the Federation and FOM to discuss how to improve the new regulations. F1 president Stefano Domenicali judged it very positive and open, while emphasizing that criticism sometimes stems from vested interests.
Domenicali’s words
“My talks with the drivers are very open, they know I care a lot about their opinions. I want them to be involved,” he said in an interview with Autosport. “Obviously, sometimes a strategy is adopted. If you talk to the top drivers, they are always very happy, and they are because they win. Others may feel frustrated, also because they love a different way of racing, which I respect a lot.”

The former Ferrari team principal also sent an important message to the drivers. Which, between the lines, was especially addressed to Max Verstappen, who has repeatedly expressed the desire to move to other categories and leave an F1 that in his opinion does not reward the driver: “I told them ‘Guys, don’t forget that we are here because we did the right things together. So be respectful of a sport that has given all of us an incredible opportunity to grow, to earn a lot of money and to develop a personality in the world that other sports you may love more perhaps cannot give you’. I think this message was understood.”
