Another difficult weekend for Cadillac, which on the occasion of the Canadian Grand Prix failed to score points with either of its drivers. A negative streak of results that has continued uninterrupted for the American team since its debut in F1, which took place this year, with only Valtteri Bottas finishing in 16th position, last among the classified.

“A long and tough day. We struggled a lot with the balance. We were unable to solve the oversteer problem in any way during the race, which was the main issue and something we need to investigate further. In terms of results, maybe sometimes we don’t see big progress, but it’s not just about the car’s pace, because we are continuing to improve in every other aspect. We are moving step by step and we knew it would take time. The next race is in two weeks, so hopefully we can make another step forward.”

The most competitive weekend
Less fortunate, however, was the race of Sergio Perez. Like McLaren and Audi, the Mexican also played the Intermediate tires card, returning to the pits immediately after due to the total absence of precipitation. Additionally, the former Red Bull had to retire due to suspension damage: “It was going well! Obviously at the start we made a mistake with the intermediate tires, but we were on the edge. We were recovering and staying in the fight, battling with Esteban [Ocon], then I passed in front of the Haas and we had a good pace. Then, unfortunately, we had a suspension failure and had to retire. We made a huge step forward this weekend and it was our most competitive weekend since the start of the season, so there are many positive aspects. Now we just need to fix things operationally to capitalize on the progress we have made.”
