Everything perfect
Mission accomplished. Marco Bezzecchi won the Thailand GP, as expected after the excellent start to the weekend on Friday for the Rimini-born Aprilia rider, but as it no longer seemed so certain after yesterday’s mocking slide that eliminated him from the Sprint after two laps while he was leading. The #72 instead was good at resetting and avenging Saturday’s mistake in the best way, leading a front-running and solitary race from the first to the last lap. A dominant performance to sign his third consecutive victory in MotoGP, after the two with which he had closed last season.

“After yesterday’s mistake, today it was important to try to react – commented Bezzecchi, speaking hot to the official MotoGP channel just after the race finished – my pace was good with the mediums and we worked very well all weekend, so I knew I could be fast if I went to the front immediately. I tried to make a good start and then the bike was perfect. The guys did a fantastic job“.
The reaction to yesterday’s crash
To the microphones of Sky Sport MotoGP, the Aprilia standard-bearer then explained the race strategy in detail: “I had the plan I wanted to try to do clear in my head, but it was important to start well. I did it and I got away better than yesterday. Afterwards I tried to manage the tires well, even though I was still pushing to try to put some distance between me and second place. Was I shown little on TV? For me, I don’t even have to go on TV anymore if the result is always this”, Bezzecchi joked.
The Italian then also wanted to pay tribute to the work of the Noale-based manufacturer, which achieved a feat by placing four bikes in the top five positions: “They were good this winter at doing good things, because they brought us so much material to test. It wasn’t easy at the tests to be able to test everything properly and always be clear about what was better and what was a bit worse. Tests often lead you a bit astray, since the track always becomes fantastic. But they were very good. Was my mind clear after yesterday’s crash? This morning was difficult – Bezzecchi admitted at the end of the interview – because I tried to enter that corner as if nothing had happened yesterday and I immediately took two or three significant risks. So I said to myself ‘take a breath because otherwise you’ll do damage today too’. In the race, fortunately, I started strong and tried to stay a bit calmer. Everything went a bit better for me fortunately and after a few laps I forgot about what had happened”.
