The ‘usual’ leader
The routine is always the same now and it is wonderful for Italy in motorsport: Andrea Kimi Antonelli ahead of everyone and the others behind him, chasing. It also happened in FP2 on the brand new Madring track, with the World Championship leader ahead of the two Ferraris of Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton. The 20-year-old from Bologna, analyzing the outcome of the session, showed that he appreciates the new city circuit, while agreeing with everyone who predicts a GP decidedly poor in overtaking.

A difficult track that Kimi likes
“This is a really fantastic circuit to drive on – commented Antonelli – it represents a real challenge for us drivers, with many high-speed corners and walls very close. You have to be extremely precise in the lines and skilled in braking; it is very easy to lock the wheels, as there are several points where you brake and turn at the same time. It is a fun challenge that I am really enjoying“.

“It was a good first day, but there is still a lot of work to do for the rest of the weekend – the championship leader then added – Sunday will be difficult to manage the tires and overtaking looks quite complicated. This makes the work on the qualifying lap tomorrow morning even more important; we will focus on this aspect overnight, while also trying to ensure a good car for Sunday’s race“.
