Two weeks after the Miami GP, the first of the season in which Williams scored points with both its drivers, the Grove team returned to the points zone again at the Canadian GP, but this time with only Carlos Sainz. Ninth in the Shanghai weekends and just at the last event in Florida, the Spaniard crossed the finish line once again in ninth place also in Montreal.

For the British team, this is a placement that allows them to reach a total of 7 points in the Constructors’ Championship after five races, but according to the former Ferrari driver, it is a sign of progress made to be able to make further steps forward: “More points for the team, I am happy with the result. Ultimately, we still need more pace to regularly fight among the top eight, but we are gaining good momentum race after race“.

Piastri knocks out Albon
A more difficult reverse weekend for teammate Alex Albon, which started uphill already from FP1. The Brit, who has scored only one point this season in Miami, had to retire from the race following a contact with Piastri, although he did not blame the Australian for the latter’s maneuver at the entrance of turn 10: “It was not a lucky weekend for me. More bad luck, but no hard feelings towards Oscar, I think he made a mistake in the overtaking. Sometimes these things happen, it’s the nature of racing.”
