A Shocking Start
Aston Martin in recent years had not hidden the firm intention to fully focus on 2026 to rise among the top Formula 1 teams. Lawrence Stroll left no stone unturned, recruiting top-level technicians – above all Adrian Newey – and choosing Honda, recently a serial winner with Verstappen, as their engine partner.
But nothing went as expected, since Honda itself was light years behind the other engine manufacturers and Aston Martin can currently only duel with the newly born Cadillac, decidedly distant from all the other teams.
A disaster on all fronts, also with team principal Adrian Newey last seen at the pit wall in Australia on March 8.

Another 10 Races of Passion
Four GPs have passed, but the road to seeing a recovery is still very long. A real journey through the desert, as recounted with resignation by Fernando Alonso in interviews with the Spaniards from As and Marca during the Miami weekend: “Unfortunately, speaking with you I will be repetitive, because we will not have improvements until summer. We will have to manage this level of frustration from everyone in the team, but I believe we are relaxed and determined to have a better second half of the season.”

Alonso then continued: “If we gained two or three tenths in every race, our position would not change. The car ahead of us is one second away. We will not improve performance until after summer, it will not happen before race 14. There is a long way to go. Until the problems are understood and solved, it is difficult to have the confidence needed to make performance progress. At least finding the solution to the vibrations was a relief.”
