Against all odds for Andrea Kimi Antonelli it is already time to start the countdown towards celebrating a sensational world title at the age of 20 in his second season in F1.
The Mercedes driver in Monza was supposed to limit the damage on paper due to a grid penalty for fitting a new power unit, instead he achieved his seventh win of the season followed by the eighth in Madrid.
The rivals are not keeping up, in fact, George Russell has dropped to -81 points, Lewis Hamilton to -101 and Lando Norris to -106. The latter will probably be the toughest challenge for Antonelli from now until the end of the season, but four full races of advantage with eight still to go represent a serious mortgage on the World title.

Jean Alesi recounted that Antonelli also enchanted a great F1 enthusiast who was a special guest at the ‘home’ GP since he returned to coach Real Madrid: “I watched the race with José Mourinho – Alesi’s words in the usual Tuesday commentary on the Corriere della Sera – he kept saying ‘I have never seen a boy like this. Said by a coach who has worked with many phenoms, it seems like a very authoritative verdict.”
