CFMOTO Aspar: the shared project to make the big leap in MotoGP

Together for the big dream

The partnership between the Aspar and CFMOTO team, recently renewed until 2031, has increased not only investments in technologies and infrastructures of the Chinese brand in the Spanish team, but also a project shared by both entities: after several seasons in Moto3 and Moto2, the intention is now to make the big leap into MotoGP.

These are not rumors

Confirming the growth of the Aspar team, necessary for the move to the premier class, was the team founder himself, the former rider Jorge Martinez, who thanks to the Asian manufacturer and its investments can concretely approach MotoGP, although there is no precise date to aim for the highest class of the world championship: I can confirm that the common vision is MotoGP – reiterated the four-time world champion to SpeedweekI cannot give a precise timing. Maybe three years, maybe five.”

The only certainty, however, is the ‘impossibility of entering MotoGP already in 2027. This is not only due to the regulation changes that will come into effect next season, but also because of the need to proceed gradually in building a new structure: “We have to be realistic: building the entire infrastructure by 2027 would be madness. We have to proceed step by step.”

The importance of a Chinese brand

A philosophy also shared by the Chinese manufacturer, which in recent years has increasingly increased its investments in the world of global motorcycling not only in Moto3 or Moto2, but also in other championships such as Superbike: “It is something unique in history – added the Aspar team manager – they are investing in all important aspects: development of young riders, support to teams, infrastructures and technology. It is not only our interest or that of CFMOTO. Even MotoGP is very interested in welcoming an important Chinese manufacturer. An opinion, the latter, shared by Martinez: “With a powerful manufacturer, MotoGP would have access to new partners and sponsors. Other projects could follow, even a Chinese Grand Prix. I think our sport will become much more international in the coming years, and it is necessary that it is.”
