The missed opportunity
Judging by Ferrari’s first performances on the Hungaroring circuit, the Prancing Horse had good chances to go on vacation with a victory, and the first positive impressions came from qualifying. By only 12 thousandths, Lewis Hamilton failed to secure pole position, later dropping three places on the grid for blocking Piastri. Despite this, to ‘replace’ the seven-time world champion on the front row was his teammate Charles Leclerc, in a race that however turned into a sort of own goal for both drivers and the team in general, with lost positions, questionable strategies, and another penalty for Hamilton, this time 5 seconds for speeding in the pit lane. Result: 4th Leclerc, 5th Hamilton.

No doubt
In short, the Hungarian GP turned into a failure for the Prancing Horse, where the team was considered one of the favorites for success. “It was a big disappointment. On Friday they were half a second faster than the rest of the group, yet they failed to maintain or increase that advantage. They overtook everyone on the right and left. Also, they brought Lewis into the pits at the wrong moment, making him lose position again. A real shame, but I believe you will read about it in Italy“.
