Yesterday, the four-time world champion took revenge, avenging that inconclusive attack with a surgical overtake in which he managed to perfectly stop his Red Bull, regaining third position after the undercut suffered during the first pit stop.
Hamilton via radio apologized to the Ferrari pit wall for the overtake, admitting that he did not expect an attack from his rival.
“I noticed Hamilton wasn’t paying attention and I attacked – Verstappen explained to ViaPlay – it was a bit like in 2024 because he moved under braking and when that happens it’s always risky, but it went well. It was my only chance to regain the position and I took it, I knew we were effective under braking. Our problems in general are still far from being solved”.
