Volvo EX60, deliveries begin in Europe

This week Volvo started deliveries of the first EX60 units in Europe to customers. In Sweden, the first buyers are already driving, and in the coming weeks and months, an increasing number of deliveries will follow in other countries. The model, previewed last January to great critical acclaim, was born with the ambition of becoming a real breakthrough for Volvo and for those who choose it. In particular, it aims to offer class-leading range, up to 810 km, and fast charging times, from 10 to 80% in 16 minutes, with a consistent economic positioning with that of the XC60 plug-in hybrid, the Swedish brand’s best-selling model.

Volvo starts EX60 deliveries in Europe

The EX60 is available in a five-seater configuration and aims to significantly reduce range anxiety. Not only that: it also offers a simpler and more immediate user experience, supported by a vision of safety that Volvo intends to pursue with a latest-generation data processing system. Furthermore, it represents the Swedish brand’s first step into the most globally relevant electric vehicle segment, with the aim of expanding both the potential customer base and market share in the electric vehicle sector. Production and deliveries will be fully operational in the second half of 2026. Meanwhile, orders remain open across Europe and more recently in the USA, where the order book has been activated.

Italy lags behind in the BEV market

It remains to be seen how the Italian market will welcome the arrival of the new EX60. During our test drive a few days ago in Bologna, the leaders of the Italian division of the Swedish brand outlined the situation of electric mobility in our country. The numbers don’t lie: Italy was at the bottom for BEV penetration in 2025, with a share of 6.2%. In 2026, however, the share should rise to 8%, nothing exceptional. In this context, Volvo spent its first full year without diesel in its range, a technology that still accounted for 65% of sales. Well, without diesel, the loss in volumes was “only” 24% compared to 2024, a record year for the company. Electrification, in fact, limited the damage.
