Silverstone, permanent spot in F1?
Silverstone could become the first circuit to secure a permanent spot on the Formula 1 calendar. The historic Northamptonshire track, which recorded a record 564,000 attendees during the British Grand Prix weekend, could indeed obtain a very long-term agreement, potentially valid “forever”. This was revealed by the president of Formula 1, Stefano Domenicali.

Currently, Silverstone is tied to the Circus by a contract valid until 2034, signed just two years ago. However, the public success recorded in the last edition and the excellent moment experienced by Formula 1 could push the championship’s leaders to evaluate an unprecedented solution, reserving a permanent spot for the British circuit in the world championship calendar.
Domenicali’s words on Silverstone
“Silverstone forever? I’m ready to discuss it. It’s just a matter of sitting down and finding the right conditions. Silverstone deserves to be on the calendar forever”, these are the words of the Imola native to the Daily Mail.
“It cannot rest on the laurels of the past, but in recent years Silverstone has understood the need to offer the best possible product to fans. It is one of the most fantastic places to admire the passion of motorsport: it gives you chills, regardless of the passport you hold”, he added.
Domenicali’s statements confirm Silverstone’s strategic value for Formula 1. Should the parties reach an agreement, the British Grand Prix could become the only event on the World Championship calendar with a guaranteed presence without a fixed expiry date, further strengthening the bond between the Circus and one of the most iconic circuits in its history.
