Gasly towards Spa in memory of Hubert
Spa is always a special appointment in the World Championship that drivers circle in red on the calendar. Certainly, with the new generation of cars the Belgian weekend will be different from the past. The Ardennes circuit is among the most penalized by the new regulations, and this weekend we will see the superclipping and the high-speed corners taken at reduced speed to try to recover energy. Old story of a regulation born very old. The drivers will still try to enjoy it, and among them will be Pierre Gasly, always particularly motivated in Belgium to remember his great friend Anthoine Hubert, who tragically died during the 2019 F2 race weekend, and Dilano van ‘t Hoff, who died here in 2023.

The Frenchman, who organized the fourth edition of the Run For Anthoine (starting Thursday at 6 pm), is ready to face a track that has always tested cars and drivers thanks to its unique mix of speed and technique: “I can’t wait for Spa, it is one of the most special events on the calendar for many reasons. As a circuit, it features some of the most beautiful corners of the season and represents one of the most challenging tests we have to face behind the wheel. This year it might be a bit different, given the current generation of cars and the energy management we will have to implement during the lap; probably we will have to show up there with a very open mindset and try to come with some tricks up our sleeve to maximize lap time. I am sure we will see some variety across the grid on how to best exploit the package“
“There is also the more emotional side of returning to Spa year after year, as I, like many others, remember Anthoine. I am organizing the Run For Anthoine again on Thursday evening: it is the fourth time this special gathering is held, where we fondly remember all the moments spent with him“.

“I am very happy to return to Spa this week, it is one of my favorite races on the calendar“, added Franco Colapinto. “I am a big fan of this circuit, fast and exciting to drive in every category. The high-speed corners always require great commitment and there are also many overtaking points, especially this year with cars able to stay much closer. Energy management will also add an interesting element to the weekend and we will work hard during free practice to fine-tune our optimal strategy on this challenging track“.
