Nightmare weekend for Leclerc

The Monaco GP weekend was anticipated with the announcement of Charles Leclerc‘s contract renewal with Ferrari, and as for this pairing, the weekend ended very badly. Leclerc was third behind Antonelli and Hamilton and was furious with the team via radio because during the neutralization, the two Ferrari drivers were called into the pits. Lewis Hamilton was thus able to serve the five-second penalty for speeding in the pit lane, taken previously during the only pit stop, and so Leclerc could no longer gain position against his teammate by simply staying within five seconds of him.

Via radio, Leclerc immediately after the accident vented his anger: “I’m not taking the blame, damn brakes“. Usually, the Monegasque is very self-critical, so these words are indicative of his state of mind. It should also be noted, however, that at the point where Stroll and Leclerc hit the wall, the asphalt had come off and may have played a role in ‘favoring’ the error of the Canadian and the Monegasque.
