Joy for Marquez, disappointment for Bagnaia: Dall’Igna’s analysis
Ducati can celebrate at the end of the Balaton Sprint: Marc Marquez indeed secured a dominant victory in the Hungarian short race, confirming once again that he can compensate for a decidedly deficient physical condition with his immense talent. The slow corners of the Hungarian track suited the reigning world champion, who has so far recorded a perfect Saturday: pole and Sprint victory; tomorrow in the GP he could complete the job.
Meanwhile, Gigi Dall’Igna rejoices, who immediately after the conclusion of the Sprint spoke to Sky Sport MotoGP microphones. His smile alone said more than a thousand words: “I am truly happy for Marquez. It wasn’t easy, I followed his entire journey and I must say he is truly great,” were the few but clear words of the general director of Ducati Corse.
However, a few more clouds gathered over the other half of the garage, the one occupied by Francesco Bagnaia. The Piedmontese, who started in fifth position, once again lost several positions on the first lap and ultimately finished the Sprint in ninth position. “Bagnaia? I want to talk to him. The premises were for doing something more – commented Dall’Igna with a bit of bitterness – then the first corner didn’t go as we expected and then on this track everything becomes complicated“.
