Looking ahead to 2027
In a championship in full swing, the MotoGP teams and riders are already aware of the numerous changes that will be made to the technical regulations for the next season: from the reduction of aerodynamic surfaces to the elimination of the launch control devices used at the start, as well as the end of the Michelin era as the sole tire supplier, with the French company making way for Pirelli.
From 1000 to 850cc
Among all this, one of the biggest changes focuses on the reduction of engine displacement, which will go from the current 1000 to 850. In this regard, in an interview given to the official MotoGP channels, a brief statement came from former rider Aleix Espargaró. The Spaniard, now engaged as a Honda test rider, has already tried the new prototype, but obviously cannot comment in detail on the characteristics of tomorrow’s bike.
However, for the 36-year-old there are some aspects of the new engine that could make next year’s races even more spectacular than today’s: “I am not allowed to talk, but I can tell you that the bike is very fun to ride – he commented – the riders will have a lot of fun, much more than with the 1,000. The Pirelli tires have exceptional grip and with less torque at low revs, you can push a bit more mid-corner. The bike is ten kilos lighter and works very well in direction changes. I think there will be more battles, to the delight of the riders and also the fans at home. I can’t wait to show the new bike to everyone.”
