A dreamed milestone
There is so much emotion in seeing Marco Bezzecchi win at Mugello. The Italian MotoGP GP is finally his and it seemed like an appointment with destiny. Just two years ago, in his last Ducati season, Bez had appeared before journalists with the morale of a beaten dog. He had just finished the race in 13th place, while ahead Bagnaia and Bastianini, on the two red Ducatis, made all the Italian fans cheer.

Two years later the world has turned upside down and Bezzecchi has taken that highest step he so desired. And he deserves it. His is a victory of work, of constant growth, of trust in a project and in a relationship, that with Aprilia, which Bez has nurtured since the first day he set foot in Noale. Now he is the king of Mugello and in his eyes, after the race, in the press conference and during the interviews, we really saw the disbelief and the pure and simple emotion of a boy passionate about motorcycles who won on the track where as a kid he was used to seeing his idol triumph.
His victory here this year was expected, awaited, hoped for by everyone and for this reason it was even more difficult to achieve. Massimo Rivola also pointed this out: Bezzecchi when he has his back against the wall, when he seems to have everything to lose, when everyone is ready to point the finger at a mistake of his, raises his level and pulls out something special. And today’s was the most special play that could be invented. A victory that had everything in it: tactics, clarity, speed and consistency. Bezzecchi and Aprilia, today, were perfect.

Even the podium is perhaps the most beautiful possible for Bezzecchi himself: in second place is Jorge Martin, his teammate, with whom he is managing to maintain a splendid relationship based on esteem and respect – and it is anything but obvious when you are first and second in the World Championship and race in the same team – and against whom Bez will probably play his title chances throughout the year; and in third place is Francesco Bagnaia, a lifelong friend, who perhaps expressed in the backpodium the most fitting comment for Bezzecchi’s victory: “Oh, do you realize what you have done?“. Yes, Bez, this time you really did it big.
And finally the hug with Andrea Kimi Antonelli, in parc fermé, is perhaps the most beautiful symbol of this Italy of motorsport that now, in these first six months of 2026, does not stop making us dream.
