Mugello, Di Giannantonio always at the top
Francesco Bagnaia said it in yesterday’s press conference: Fabio Di Giannantonio is the Ducati rider to beat at Mugello. The Mugello Practice sessions proved the Piedmontese right, because Diggia confirmed today that he is one of the men to beat during the Scarperia circuit weekend.
The VR46 rider finished at the top in both FP1 and Practice, ahead of Bagnaia by 91 thousandths, Enea Bastianini and Franco Morbidelli in an all-Italian top-4: five Ducatis in the top six positions thanks to Marc Marquez’s P6. After already impressing in FP1 on a track not yet perfect due to the rain in the past hours, the Roman continued to show speed and confidence after the Montmeló triumph, realistically positioning himself as a protagonist.

“It was definitely a great day in terms of results. This afternoon we set a good time, but it was a very complicated day, I couldn’t do many laps in a row because I’m struggling a bit with various aches (his left pinky is still bandaged, ed.) so we just tried to survive, securing entry into Q2,” this is his comment to Sky Sport MotoGP.
The decisive T3 in the Roman’s best time, which he explains with a joke: “I tried to push, yesterday there was a guy in the stands, he told me he would offer me a barbecue if I went fast. It worked. Jokes aside, in T3 I went fast, I tried to be as clean as possible. Last year I was fast too, but I lacked a bit of feeling, today I managed to attack“.
