Mugello Tests, Bagnaia 91 Thousandths Behind Diggia
Francesco Bagnaia finished the Mugello Tests in second position behind Fabio Di Giannantonio, confirming the excellent potential and great feeling on the Tuscan track. The Ducati rider stopped the clock 91 thousandths behind the Roman after a Friday spent between good sensations and some mistakes in the time attack, and remains one of the weekend favorites on a circuit that has often exalted him in recent years.

Besides Bagnaia’s performances, constantly improving after the Jerez tests, Friday was also notable for Ducati: Mugello is a track favorable to the Borgo Panigale factory (undefeated here since 2022) but placing five bikes in the top six positions and excluding Aprilia from the top 6 was by no means a given.
Bagnaia’s Words
“Let’s say this is an extremely Ducati track, we feel good here. Right from the start, even though the conditions were not the best, I felt good and was able to ride fast,” these are the words of “Pecco” to Sky Sport MotoGP. “Compared to this morning we decided not to change anything on the bike, because it is a particular track: you can do a lot with your body, the grip is very low, the tires disintegrate in a very short time, so you have to be very careful about everything. Electronics can do a lot, in the setup you can go towards something that allows you to turn a bit more, for the rest you patch it up with the riding“.

On the strength relations for the weekend, Bagnaia is clear: “As for pace, there are several fast riders. There is Bezzecchi, us, there is Bastianini. I saw Di Giannantonio struggling a bit more, but in my opinion he will be fast. At the moment this is the picture, for the Sprint it will be important to understand how much the rear tire wears: today I brought the soft but it is difficult, because compared to previous years the grip has dropped even more“.
