In the misfortune of what happened, Alex Marquez “only” suffered a marginal fracture of the C7 vertebra and a broken right clavicle.
He will be absent for the next two rounds at Mugello and Balaton, and Michele Pirro will replace him on the Italian track in the Gresini team.

Alex Marquez recalls the accident
On his own YouTube channel, Alex Marquez recounted the serious accident he had: “When I arrived at the hospital around 3:30 pm, I started to remember everything 100%, but I decided to watch the accident to understand how it happened. At that moment I realized how lucky I was to avoid the wall.”
And the post-operative course was not simple: “On Sunday I was operated on around 8:30 pm and I felt good. I spent the night in intensive care as a precaution and was discharged Monday morning and went to Madrid. Once back home I didn’t feel well at all because the effect of the medication was starting to wear off and the pain increased. So I decided to spend two more nights at Ruber International”, explained Alex Marquez.
