I don’t care much, it’s his problem. I live my life and I don’t let this influence me.” Thus Max Verstappen addressed Juan Pablo Montoya in a recent interview given to Telegraaf.

Montoya’s response was not long in coming: “No, there is no drama between me and Max and if there is, honestly, if he got angry about this, then he has more problems in life than he should have“, said the Colombian reached by sports betting.
“I have talked with Max Verstappen in the past and during races, and actually we get along very well. We don’t spend time chatting, but we greet each other and I also greet Jos – added Montoya – we have never had problems and I don’t think there are any now. I think, however, that he made a mistake driving that Mercedes at the Nürburgring. Since Ford is investing so much money in this sport with Red Bull, driving a Mercedes was simply wrong. I don’t think Max Verstappen really cares what I think. The interview with the BBC was completely taken out of context. I had said that all drivers who speak badly about F1 should receive penalty points or a race ban, as happens in every other sport. If I work for you and speak badly about your company, you fire me. And they asked me if this speech included Max too and I answered ‘yes’. People asked Max what he thought of me, so obviously he reacted. If it had been the other way around, I would have done the same thing Max said. It’s normal. I honestly don’t think he gives a damn. I certainly don’t care. Martin Brundle, who never liked me, and the feeling is mutual, reached me on the grid. He said: ‘I see you pissed Max off’. I replied ‘nothing new’.”
