Acosta has no illusions: “There will be weekends where we will struggle more”

It had never happened before that a KTM rider was leading the Riders’ World Championship and Pedro Acosta has broken this ‘taboo’ as he will enjoy the MotoGP scepter for three weeks thanks to the 32 points obtained in Thailand by winning the Sprint and finishing the GP in second position.

The throne of the premier class is, however, a kind gift from Marco Bezzecchi who threw it away yesterday by crashing on the second lap of the Sprint and Acosta is aware of it. “Am I happier with this second place or yesterday’s victory? Definitely with this second place, even the whole battle was better than in the Sprint – Acosta told Sky Sport MotoGP – we got the maximum and now let’s see how it goes in Brazil, for sure we have to try to improve in the time-attack in Qualifying because today at the start I lost a lot of time compared to Bezzecchi.”

“There will be tracks where we will struggle more, Ducati and Aprilia are stronger – Acosta added – we have improved the bike a lot and KTM has done a lot to allow me to be faster and more consistent. Let’s keep going like this, we’ll see what we can do, we will certainly try in Brazil as well.”
