What happened to Johann Zarco?
The dynamics of the Johann Zarco accident in the second start of the Catalan Grand Prix kept everyone on the edge of their seats, as did the long minutes of on-track rescue.
After 7:00 PM, it was the French rider himself who informed about his health status through a video he posted on his Instagram profile.

These are Zarco’s words: “Hello everyone, I just wanted to reassure you. We are still waiting for the exam results. I have an orthopedic collar, but it is more of an annoyance. The main pain is in the knee: the ligaments are torn, but the femur is not broken. I have a small fracture at the base of the fibula, on the outer side, in the left ankle. I will keep you updated, just to reassure you, it was more of a bad scare than something serious, let’s say. I will keep you informed, I will stay in the hospital tonight because they want to keep me under observation, and then we will see.”
A decidedly unlucky accident
After losing his Honda LCR under braking approaching Turn 1 after the start, Johann Zarco collided with Luca Marini, also involving Pecco Bagnaia in the fall.
The Frenchman was particularly unlucky because during the tumble in the gravel his left leg got stuck between the tail section and the rear wheel of the Ducati, remaining hooked to the rival bike during the somersaults in the runoff area. Immediately both Marini and Bagnaia approached Zarco loudly calling for help, which arrived promptly.
