MotoGP Market: another piece falls into place
First the rumor from The Race, then the confirmation from As: Joan Mir’s future will be with Ducati, as the Spaniard has accepted the Gresini team’s offer for the 2027 and 2028 seasons.
The Romagna team was looking around to replace the current pair of riders made up of Alex Marquez (who will go to KTM) and Fermin Aldeguer (whom Ducati will move to VR46).
Nadia Gresini has therefore chosen to bet on Joan Mir and alongside him will be Dani Holgado, coming from Moto2, for an all-Spanish team already seen in recent seasons.

Mir like the Marquez?
After winning the 2020 world title with Suzuki with only one victory and great consistency, it is undeniable that Joan Mir’s last 6 seasons have been anything but exciting. In particular, the four years at Honda HRC – from 2023 to 2026 – have been decidedly disappointing, with just 2 podiums and a staggering number of crashes.
With Honda’s choice to focus on Fabio Quartararo and David Alonso, it seemed clear that Mir would have to look around to find a new team to stay on the grid.
Gresini’s idea is to try to help Joan Mir find himself again, somewhat like what was done with both Alex and Marc Marquez, who relaunched their respective careers at the Romagna team.
What remains for Bastianini?
The association of Enea Bastianini with the Gresini team had the romantic flavor of a return, but now the Rimini rider will have to weigh his options to find a good-level solution to remain competitive.
At this point, Bastianini’s name is in pole position for a move to Aprilia with Trackhouse (which needs to replace Ai Ogura who accepted Yamaha), since KTM most likely no longer intends to bet on him after two rather complicated years.
