Hat-trick of doubles
A weekend of perfection for Nicolò Bulega and the Aruba.it – Ducati team, who for the second consecutive time achieved a double in all races scheduled for the weekend. A feat that the team had already managed to achieve in the previous event in Portimão, only to repeat it last weekend in Assen with Bulega on the podium followed by Iker Lecuona. Should this result be repeated in Balaton, host of the next round of the championship in Hungary, the team would write a piece of Superbike history: no one, since the introduction of the Superpole Race, has ever achieved three doubles in the same weekend for three consecutive rounds.

Bulega doesn’t stop
The one who has already set a record in the ‘Cathedral of Speed’, however, was Bulega: always on the top step of the podium since the start of this championship, the #11 rider from Emilia had also won the last races of the previous world championship, which allowed him to reach a total of 13 consecutive victories. An unbroken winning streak equal to that of Toprak Razgatlioglu, with the two now sharing the absolute Superbike record: “I am very happy – he commented – it was an unpredictable weekend, especially due to the weather conditions. However, we did a great job and, for this, I thank Ducati and my team. It was important for me to leave Assen with good feelings after last year“.

Lecuona on the rise
Very positive performances also from Iker Lecuona, who always emerged victorious from the direct challenge with Sam Lowes, always 3rd in all races of the weekend: “I must admit I am very satisfied. The weekend started with feelings perhaps not the same as in Portimao, but we managed to close the gap we needed to be very competitive. The goal is always the same as at the beginning of the season: to grow race after race, and we are doing it”.
