Series of injuries for KTM riders
Maverick Vinales will not recover in time to race in Jerez and the KTM Tech3 team will field only Enea Bastianini because the designated substitute, Pol Espargarò, has also suffered a hand injury that will prevent him from filling in for Vinales. The team evaluated further alternatives, but then preferred to decide to race only with Bastianini.

“It is obviously a disappointment not to be able to race in Jerez this weekend – said Vinales – it is a very important event for me and the first of my home races this season. I know my body well, however, and right now the priority is to recover well and make sure I can return in the best possible condition for the rest of the season. Everything is going in the right direction and the goal is to be ready for Le Mans”.

“We are plagued by bad luck, it seems like a twist of fate – added CEO Gunther Steiner – this is not how we wanted to arrive in Jerez. We evaluated alternatives, but we also need to make sensible decisions that are right for the team and for the project as a whole. The positive aspect is that Enea Bastianini comes into this weekend with good momentum after Austin, and this offers us a solid foundation to build on as we approach the European part of the season“.
