A key day for F1
As reported in recent weeks, Monday, April 20, will be fundamental for intervening on the 2026 regulations and fixing the problems that emerged in Formula 1 in the first three races of the season. After two meetings between federal and team technicians, and after consulting the drivers, the ball now passes to the decisive meeting which will also be attended by the team principals. Subsequently, there will be an online vote to ratify the changes and make them valid starting from Miami.

Ben Sulayem: “We will move for the safety and interest of the sport”
On Sunday evening, the President of the Federation Mohammed Ben Sulayem issued a statement on the ongoing decision-making process: “I am pleased to announce that a constructive and collaborative debate took place between the FIA and Formula 1 drivers ahead of tomorrow’s meeting between CEOs and team principals, aimed at discussing potential changes to the 2026 regulations. The drivers provided invaluable input on the adjustments they deem necessary, particularly in the area of energy management, in order to ensure safe, fair, and competitive races. The FIA has also held a series of meetings in recent weeks with technical representatives of the teams, engine manufacturers, and FOM to discuss the proposed changes. The safety and interest of the sport are the focus of these discussions. Following tomorrow’s meeting, the final proposals will be submitted for electronic vote by the FIA WMSC”.

As is known, the two areas on which discussions are focusing are energy management during qualifying and the speed difference between cars recharging and those approaching.
