Cadillac, the program for Herta
The time has come for Colton Herta in F1. Certainly, not yet in a GP, but Cadillac has announced that its test driver will take part in the four FP1 sessions that each team must reserve for a rookie. The American driver will debut on the Friday of the Catalonia Grand Prix, then return to the track on three other occasions during the season. It will be his first official appearance in a race weekend, an important step in his growth path after the work done on the simulator with the team.

Lowdon’s words
“Colton is a top-tier talent, as he has shown not only by building an impressive resume in IndyCar, but also thanks to a great start to the season in Formula 2,” commented team principal Graeme Lowdon. “Completing all four FP1 sessions reserved for rookies is the natural next step in his role as a test driver, and I look forward to seeing what he can bring in terms of development and focus.”
Towriss’s words
“Colton has truly earned this opportunity,” added CEO Dan Towriss. “These sessions represent a valuable chance for him to integrate with the team, develop his skills behind the wheel and off the track, and get to know a race weekend up close.”
In its “roster,” Cadillac also has Guanyu Zhou, but the Chinese driver cannot take part in the free practice sessions reserved for young drivers as he has already competed in three full seasons in F1. The American comes from an encouraging debut in F2 (in Melbourne he scored points with a seventh place in the Feature Race) and will also be present in Miami, where the feeder category to F1 will also race.
