The Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini pressed the Minister of Enterprises and Made in Italy Adolfo Urso, asking to accelerate the reduction of petrol and diesel prices and to summon the oil companies, considered slow despite the excise duty cuts. Urso, however, rejected the League’s approach, claiming the results of the pressure on the companies, arguing that prices have already fallen in the last two days following the exhortation made during Thursday’s meeting at MIMIT.

However, beyond the figures, the clash between the two government representatives signals a climate of political friction that, according to what emerges, has not subsided even after the Prime Minister’s briefing on Thursday in Parliament and the relaunch of the executive’s agenda. To complicate the picture, cites Il Sole 24 Ore on newsstands today, the international framework remains: the glimpses of peace initiated by the talks do not, in fact, eliminate the risk of new energy shocks and do not silence the alarm over further price increases that could reflect on the economy.

“The companies have accepted our exhortation to immediately reduce fuel prices without delay, formulated in Thursday’s meeting at Mimit, as demonstrated by the drop in prices at the pump recorded over the last two days,” Urso explained. Speaking of numbers, along the national road network in recent days the average price in “self-service” mode was 1,785 €/l for petrol and 2,166 €/l for diesel.
