Hamilton doesn’t have much confidence
Among the many opinions given by Formula 1 drivers in Suzuka on possible regulatory changes, that of Lewis Hamilton did not go unnoticed. The English Ferrari champion was particularly demoralized by the power difference compared to the Mercedes engine and hinted that he does not expect miracles from the meetings in April. In particular, Hamilton is aware that every team will try to look out for its own interests and that therefore it will be truly complex to find a synthesis among so many interests.

Hamilton explained: “I don’t expect much, I hope important changes can be made. But there will be too many chefs in that kitchen. And usually when that’s the case the result is never the best…”, sighed the seven-time British world champion. The Ferrari driver had also complained about the absence of drivers at the decision-making table on rule changes: he was not satisfied and no representative of the protagonists behind the wheel is expected to be present in the meetings.
There will be three meetings
The New York Times revealed that the discussion of the 2026 regulations in April will be divided into three phases. Thursday, April 9 and Thursday, April 16, the F1 Technical Advisory Committee will meet, which includes all 11 teams, the 5 manufacturers and the technical department of Formula 1. In these two meetings, all available data from the first three weekends of 2026 will be reviewed and proposals will be made to improve the show on the track – and it has already emerged that a particular eye will be kept on qualifying, given that the drivers’ frustration at no longer being able to drive at the limit has emerged.
Subsequently Monday, April 20, the voting of the proposals will proceed, with the aim of implementing them as early as the Miami round in early May.
