Two Aprilias and a KTM ahead of the first of the Ducatis, and without a technical failure, Ai Ogura’s RS-GP would also have preceded the bikes from the Borgo Panigale manufacturer. If Austin was supposed to be a reaction, it certainly didn’t arrive, and the standings are starting to be worrying for Ducati.
The best Ducati rider once again at the end of the GP was Fabio Di Giannantonio, as in Brazil: “I was the fifth force because Ogura was going very fast, the podium was not within our reach, but we did our best and we must continue to work – the VR46 rider explained to Sky – Aprilia and KTM have made a big step, they make all the difference with the front because they manage to brake well and position the bike perfectly to exploit the corner exit, whereas we are rear-dependent, we have to ask a lot of the rear and when it lets us down we struggle.”

“In the Sprint we manage to mask it a bit because the race is shorter and we can fit the soft tire – Di Giannantonio added – instead, when we have to fit the medium which has less grip, our flaws come out. In the past, we could always hide these problems a bit because overall we were still superior to the competition, but now the competition has arrived.”
