Now the situation is, to say the least, compromised because the last four races without podiums and also a retirement in Madrid have caused Hamilton to fall to -101 points behind Antonelli.
According to Johnny Herbert, however, Ferrari should never have made any decisions. In fact, the rivalry between Leclerc and Hamilton is ‘fuel’ to be exploited by the Maranello team according to the former driver.

“In that pressure cooker that is Ferrari the rivalry between Hamilton and Leclerc is good for the team – Herbert said when reached by CasinoHawks – it’s not a rivalry with the nastiness that existed between Senna and Prost. Personally, I would just let them do their thing. I simply think it’s a very healthy thing for a team to have two drivers pushing each other. Both are trying to be number one in the team.”
