Pecco Bagnaia is like a raging river with the journalists present in Austria for the usual Thursday media meeting. The two-time Ducati world champion did not appreciate the off-air footage shown by Dazn Spain, in which he discussed with Fabio Di Giannantonio his problems with the GP26, even emphasizing that the team did not allow him to use the basic setup. A video that went viral on social media and websites, such was the implication that leaked from the conversation between the two riders.
At the Red Bull Ring, Bagnaia wanted to set the record straight, clearly annoyed by what he considered a lack of respect.
Pecco’s words
The statements of Bagnaia reported by Motorsport Spain leave no room for interpretation: “You often ask me if the team is supporting me and I have always answered yes. That said, what happened in the last race at Misano for me was a totally disrespectful gesture by Dazn. But that’s how it went. The video that was released, which was not part of the live broadcast, is taken out of context. The video is not complete and we were talking about something else.”
Pecco Bagnaia admitted, however, that he did not use the best possible words, although they were not official statements: “The last words I said were not the right ones. But everyone has difficult moments and feels frustration and sometimes things are said in the wrong way.”
And so the Ducati rider clarified better that ‘they don’t let me use it’, definitely heavy: “Ducati has always supported me a lot and what I meant is that I have tried to add and remove things so many times now, that Ducati no longer allows me to. But only because I have already done it many times. What came out of my mouth was wrong. What happened afterwards for me was a disaster because it is a total lack of respect and I have always tried to have a good relationship with journalists.”

Apologies to Ducati
Bagnaia then scolded the world of journalism: “It’s clear that you can take our words and publish them as you want. You can say three words that can take on completely different meanings, positive or negative. So it’s up to you to be transparent about this, and understand what we are saying. But I know that sometimes it’s important to have a good clickbait headline, because that’s how it works. I always try to be as transparent as possible. But I will try to be less so.”
What happened generated an inevitable discussion with Ducati: “We talked about it yesterday. As it was broadcast on television it seems terrible, but I have always said they support me. Ducati knows what I’m saying, knows I’m not crazy. I apologize for the words used, but the relationship between me and Ducati continues to be good,” concluded Pecco.
