BYD and Denza continue to grow. And they have no intention of stopping. Growth that will not only concern the car fleet. Word of Alfredo Altavilla, Special Advisor BYD for Europe, who spoke on the occasion of the inauguration of the new Denza showroom in Turin. “Next year we will further expand the sales network in Europe. The goal is to reach 350 points, each of which will be equipped with an attached Flash Charging column”, he explained.

Year of consolidation for Denza
And he spoke of a year of consolidation for Denza: “Our is an operational machine that must intrigue technology enthusiasts and those who want to drive in comfort. Surely we do not want to go to war with Italian supercar manufacturers like Ferrari and Lamborghini.” On the service network, Altavilla added: “As far as spare parts are concerned, we have been particularly virtuous. Our aftersales performance today is equal if not even better than that of legacy brands in terms of timing. We want to build trust with our customers.”
Altavilla on the abolition of the car tax and the future of the sector
Altavilla then expressed a thought on the new measure of abolition of the car tax: “All our cars have power above the range provided by the measure. I can say that it is certainly a much more farsighted measure than the excise discount.” On the future of the sector he added: “The problem is not supporting the car industry of one country, but that of all Europe. We ask for certainty and stability of the rules, to put an end to the dance of fluctuating legislation. Those like us who intend to invest in Europe do not have this certainty today.” Speaking of uncertainty, Altavilla also spoke about the Turkey issue: “It makes a huge difference for us. All manufacturers and those operating in components work in Turkey. Leaving it out of Europe seems to me a somewhat dangerous move.”

Production: Italy’s problems
In any case, the group will need three assembly plants and one battery plant in Europe. “But it will not happen tomorrow morning“, Altavilla clarifies. Will BYD ever build a plant in Italy? “I would like to find a competitive solution to produce in Italy, but objectively the only way today to make this happen efficiently is to reuse existing plants and do it quickly. And to date this scenario is not feasible. Building a new plant from scratch on a greenfield site is realistically unproductive. This is the situation.”

Altavilla wants BYD to be a protagonist
Fortunately, things are going great for the Chinese giant in our country: “The market is giving us great satisfaction, and not only in Italy. But there is always room for improvement. The product range is complete, and it will be even more so at the beginning of 2027 when we will introduce two new cars that will compete in relevant segments. At that point we will have no more excuses not to perform. We are not doing all this to be number 5 or 6 in the market. We will have the widest product range among almost all manufacturers, it is clear that at that point the commercial ambition must be consistent. We want to become protagonists.”
