The return to Hypercar
Just days after the conclusion of the 6 Hours of COTA, Peugeot announced one of the drivers it will field from next season in the Hypercar category: it is the 26-year-old Robert Shwartzman, who will therefore join the French team. The name of the Russian-Israeli talent, moreover, is not new at all in the WEC: in the 2024 season, in fact, he took part in the world championship behind the wheel of the Ferrari #83 of the AF Corse team, achieving victory right in Austin.

The last experience in IndyCar
The following year, the 2019 F3 champion stayed in the United States to participate in the Indianapolis 500 with Prema, achieving a surprising rookie pole position, something that had not happened for 40 years. A new challenge will present itself for Shwartzman in the WEC, with Peugeot’s new signing commenting on the agreement reached with the French team: “I am very happy to return to the FIA World Endurance Championship after my racing experience in the United States. I have really missed endurance racing over the last two seasons and I am excited to join Team Peugeot TotalEnergies. From the first talks with the team, I felt sincerely welcomed and immediately part of the project, within an extremely professional and ambitious environment. The program for 2027 is particularly stimulating and I can’t wait to contribute to this new chapter and to write the next pages of this story together.”
