Fortune favors the bold
Andrea Kimi Antonelli has brought the number of GP wins in 2026 to eight and with several races still to go, he can comfortably set his sights on double digits as well as, of course, winning the Drivers’ World Championship.
In Madrid he was able to take advantage of the Virtual Safety Car which cut out race leader Lando Norris and also in Monza Mercedes’ strategy rewarded Antonelli by exploiting a neutralization to change the Italian driver’s tires, allowing him to attack teammate George Russell at the end with a significant tire advantage as highlighted by Juan Pablo Montoya.
Johnny Herbert acknowledged that luck is helping Andrea Kimi Antonelli, but at the same time the latter is always fast enough to be in the top positions ready to seize every opportunity.

“There are moments when some drivers who win a world championship seem to have luck on their side – Herbert told CasinoHawks – Kimi seems to be in a very, very similar situation, but you cannot diminish what he has done. You have to earn luck, be in the right place at the right time because you are consistent and fast. Antonelli was practically perfect, he had a bit of luck with the VSC, but you cannot diminish his performance.”
