First zero for the Ferrari driver
Four races without podiums. Ferrari, after excellent performances at Silverstone and Spa, looked with justified optimism at the appointments in Budapest, Zandvoort, Monza, and Madrid (considering the debut of the power unit equipped with ADUO-2 at the Italian GP). The Maranello team not only did not increase its tally of wins, but also did not finish in the top 3 in any of these four GPs.

As team principal Frederic Vasseur pointed out, the key is qualifying, because in race pace the SF-26 rarely has anything to envy from its rivals. In a regulation where overtaking was supposed to be even in ‘yo-yo’ style, qualifying again takes on a fundamental role and with the current power unit Ferrari will hardly be able to collect pole positions this season.
The zeros of Leclerc in Monza and Hamilton in Madrid, moreover, have extinguished any small hope of fighting Mercedes for the Constructors’ Championship. Ferrari will instead have to watch out for McLaren, which is only 52 points behind and has scored many more points than the Maranello team in these last races despite an Oscar Piastri in evident difficulty.

Today’s edition of Corriere della Sera reports the reason for Lewis Hamilton‘s retirement in Madrid, the first of the season for the seven-time world champion. On the SF-26 number #44 there was a problem with the hydraulic part of the brake by wire due to a secondary component.
