Tremendous blow
From dream to disaster, in the space of a few moments. The San Marino Grand Prix of Marco Bezzecchi ended after just under a lap, who at Misano, in front of an audience all for him, incredibly crashed between turns 12 and 13 while in first position. The Aprilia rider had started very strong in an attempt to immediately break the resistance of Marc Marquez, who yesterday in the Sprint had used the first laps to dig the decisive gap that led him to victory.

Bezzecchi’s crash happened at high speed, but fortunately the Rimini rider did not worsen his already precarious physical condition. The blow this time, however, was more moral than physical.

With this ‘very heavy zero’, which comes right in the home race, Bezzecchi’s World Championship dreams become tremendously complicated. For Aprilia’s #72 this is the fifth ‘zero’ on a Sunday this season, after the four consecutive ones between Balaton and Sachsenring that made him lose the championship lead in the summer.
His mistake stunned the Misano crowd who then had to also take the fall of the other local idol shortly after, Francesco Bagnaia. For Bezzecchi this was the worst way to honor the special livery used by Aprilia which in this race wanted to pay tribute to Gilles Villeneuve and the Vespa.
