Audi, official appeal for the Monza GP
Now it is also official: Audi has filed an appeal against the result of the Italian GP to obtain the tenth place earned on track by Yuki Tsunoda. The basis of the complaint from Mattia Binotto’s team is the decision of the stewards not to penalize the Japanese driver for what happened during the second start procedure: Tsunoda actually positioned his car incorrectly on the grid, unsuccessfully trying to correct the position when there were only a few moments left before the start and forcing the Race Direction to order an additional formation lap.

In recent days Audi announced its intention to appeal against the lack of punishment for Tsunoda, who according to the regulations should have started from the pit lane. And now the four-ring brand has taken action.
The statement
“Following the Italian Grand Prix, the team raised an issue regarding the application of article B5.9.4, which states that a driver who causes an additional formation lap must enter the pit lane and resume the race from there,” reads the Audi statement.

“We can confirm that an appeal was filed within the 96-hour deadline set by the regulations. Since the matter is now subject to the FIA appeal procedure, we will not make further comments at this stage.”
The reasons for Audi’s protest are naturally related to classification opportunities, as it would gain a point with Gabriel Bortoleto that would allow it to go to -4 from seventh place in the constructors’ standings.
