Stop with motorcycles
In recent weeks, the move of Alex Rins from MotoGP to Superbike for 2027 seemed quite concrete, with the Spaniard from Yamaha already certain that he could no longer continue in the premier class. However, even the SBK hypothesis dissolved, due to the decision of the 30-year-old to retire from the world of two wheels at the end of this year. Vice world champion of Moto3 and Moto2 (respectively in 2013 and 2015), Rins has competed for ten seasons in MotoGP, with the latter continuing with the guarantee of necessarily having to leave the Yamaha team to make room for Ogura and Martin for 2027.

Farewell also to Superbike
Since then, there have been rumors about a possible move to Superbike, with the rider himself not excluding this hypothesis, but in the meeting with the media in Misano he instead announced his retirement: “I have to thank the people who have been close to me, taking care of my professional future. We had two rather valid options to move to Superbike, but I will not go there. I found something that really attracts me much more, but I cannot say what it is, because it is not yet definitive. But the news I can confirm is that my sports career on two wheels is over. What I found does not concern two wheels“.
A decision, that of leaving motorcycling, which was not easy for Rins to make, who confirmed that he wants to focus on a new project, this time related to four wheels: “The choice cost me, because there was still the opportunity to move to another championship, such as Superbike. We had good chances to go there, and that is exactly the point: I asked myself many times whether to continue or not. But this new challenge motivates me a lot, it is a long-term project and I am happy about it“.

Rins did not add details about what his future will be, but there is only the certainty of no longer wanting to return to two wheels: “What I cannot do is, after so many years, completely close shop. There are riders who have done it, but the world of motors is my life. In these years as a professional motorcycle rider I have also dedicated myself to cars. I prepared my Jeep and went to the desert with a friend, I did ice races. We have it inside. I will continue to train and practice”.
