Leclerc, a disastrous Monza

Charles Leclerc‘s Monza GP lasts a mere two laps due to a violent accident at Alboreto. A huge disappointment for the Monegasque, who already at the start is the protagonist of an unnecessarily aggressive maneuver against teammate Lewis Hamilton: a start to forget and an almost compromised race for Ferrari, and the fault is only Leclerc’s.

The second lap of the Ferrari driver is full of suffering: Leclerc takes the overtake from Max Verstappen at Ascari and is in great difficulty also against Oscar Piastri; the Australian throws himself inside Alboreto, the Ferrari driver tries to resist on the outside keeping his foot down, but accelerates putting the wheels on the green and ends up in the wall at 234 km/h.

From the telemetry data of Leclerc’s accident provided by our Federico Albano, the difference in the Monegasque’s setup at Alboreto is clearly visible: the white line is that of the accident lap, the red line is that of the first lap.

Leclerc enters slower due to the duel with Piastri, opens the throttle early, then goes on the accelerator much more decisively than the previous lap, and at the point where he loses the car he is much faster and off line.

Ferrari’s race now restarts from eighth place, with Hamilton forced to a very difficult comeback, also considering the difficulties of the Red with top speed.
