Ferrari, a poor performance in qualifying at Monza
Ferrari’s qualifying for the Italian Grand Prix was anything but perfect, with obvious mistakes both in Q2 – where Leclerc and Hamilton barely made it through – and also in Q3.
Lewis Hamilton did not hesitate to call the execution in the crucial phase of the pole hunt “poor,” since his first attempt was done completely alone, on a track where slipstreams made a difference.

Hamilton reveals: the SF-26 was missing the tires!
The timing of Lewis Hamilton‘s entry onto the track in Q3 seemed definitely wrong, since on his first attempt he was clearly behind all the other drivers.
The English Ferrari driver himself explained what happened: “In Q3 I didn’t have the tires on the car. Everyone else went out and I was there with the engine running. I went out 25 seconds later and that made me lose the rhythm.”

But something also went wrong in Q2: “During the night I did a great job and I was really satisfied with the car. For the first time ever I didn’t change anything before qualifying, I felt confident. After the first lap in Q1 I felt solid. In Q2 we should have done a push-pull-push-pull strategy. But everyone was waiting and Charles didn’t want to go out first. So we had to wait, wait and wait. And we only did one push.”
