After almost six decades of silence, OSCA is back on the roads. The brand founded in 1947 by Ettore, Ernesto, and Bindo Maserati is reborn under the wing of the Molise group DR Automobiles, the same that has already revived Itala, and it does so with an unexpected model: not a racing barchetta, but a compact crossover coupe called MT6. The name evokes the historic MT4, the company’s first true competition sports car. The official company defines it as “the authentic Crossover Coupe” and “the compact Sportover”: the synthesis, according to the manufacturer, between the OSCA sports myth and a car designed for everyday use. The first deliveries are expected from September 2026. The price is set at 49,000 euros.

From the circuit to the rebirth
OSCA, acronym for Officine Specializzate Costruzione Automobili, was born near Bologna after the Maserati brothers sold the company. It remained active until 1967, participated in four Formula 1 Grand Prix between 1951 and 1953, and specialized in small, refined, and very fast competition spiders. On the official website, the red thread of sportiness is traced back to the GT1600 dressed by Zagato in 1960: a light and sleek coupe. Sixty years later, the brand claims, “that same instinct is reborn in the MT6.” The principle recalled is always the same: not size, but the balance between weight and power. In 1948, a 1,100 cc four-cylinder engine managed to beat larger engines. Today that philosophy is applied to a crossover coupe.
Design: carbon fiber, wedge shape, and more aggressive look
The MT6 derives from the 2020 Chinese Changan UNI-T but has been redesigned by the DR style center in collaboration with Italdesign. The result is a more aggressive look compared to the original model. At the front stands a muscular front end with thin headlights and a large octagonal carbon fiber grille, inspired by historic berlinettas. The roof slopes, the “crescendo” sides draw a wedge-shaped coupe line. At the rear, a wide tail, sloping rear window, muscular flanks, and a carbon fiber diffuser with four exhaust tips. The wheels are MAK 20 or 21 inches (the official website mentions 21’’ diamond-cut) fitted with Pirelli P Zero tires. Carbon fiber elements appear on the front grille and on the rear insert that resembles a diffuser. Declared dimensions: length 451.5-452 cm, width 187 cm, height 156.5-157 cm, wheelbase 271 cm. Five seats.
Interior and technology
The cabin has a sporty setup. Dashboard with digital cluster and 10.25-inch touch display, door panels with Alcantara inserts, leather and Alcantara seats. Front Recaro seats; optional more enveloping versions with Sabelt belts. Equipment includes automatic parking (“No Stress” on the official website), wireless charging pad, electrically adjustable, heated and ventilated seats, glass roof. Level two ADAS.

Engine, chassis, and exhaust made in Italy
Under the hood is a 1.5 turbo gasoline inline four-cylinder with direct injection (TGDI). No electrification: it is a pure internal combustion engine. Seven-speed dual-clutch automated transmission, front-wheel drive. The power of the starting Chinese version is 179 hp. The exhaust system was developed by Tubi Style of Maranello. Suspension with dedicated springs and shock absorbers, upgraded braking system. Dynamic development is signed by R. Fedeli’s team together with AVL and RE.
The rebirth plan
The range, announces DR, will grow quickly. Soon the MT8 will arrive, a larger and sleeker crossover (487 cm) derived from the Changan UNI-K, available with front-wheel or all-wheel drive. In 2027, for OSCA’s 80th anniversary, a two-seater Gran Turismo with composite bodywork and style inspired by sports cars of the 1950s and 1960s is planned, with a price below 200,000 euros. OSCA today presents itself with three keywords on the official website: familiarity, exclusivity, performance. It is not a brand for everyone, the company reiterates: few cars, for those looking for something not found elsewhere. The MT6 is the first chapter of this new era. The meeting between a noble name of Italian history and a platform born in China, reinterpreted in Italy with carbon fiber, Alcantara, Recaro, and the Maranello-signed exhaust.
