F1, live commentary of the FP3 of the Italian GP

12:57 – The standings change quickly, lap after lap: behind Antonelli is now Leclerc, always with that two-tenths gap, on equal soft tires. Gasly is third, then Verstappen, Russell, Norris and Hamilton.

12:56 – Lando Norris moves to third place with six tenths behind Antonelli, but on new Medium tires (Antonelli is on Softs). Hamilton finally completes a clean attempt and immediately places himself behind the reigning world champion.

12:55 – Slipstream tests at Mercedes: Andrea Kimi Antonelli is ahead of George Russell (who did not improve at the end of his lap due to a mistake at Parabolica Alboreto) and now tries to give the slipstream in the first sector to his teammate.

12:54 – By the way, Leclerc’s lap was instead canceled for track limits infringement, while Hamilton is still 14th and has not yet managed to complete a clean lap after that small error at the second Lesmo.

12:51 – Yellow flags at turn 1: Liam Lawson spun after clipping a bit too hard the “sausage” that helps prevent drivers from cutting the track. Nothing serious for the New Zealander recently promoted to Red Bull to replace Hadjar, who restarted without damage.

12:48 – And indeed there is a new best time at the top of the standings: 1:23.032 for the World Championship leader, who puts 2 tenths on Charles Leclerc and 4 tenths on Max Verstappen. They are the top three on the timing monitor, while Lewis Hamilton aborted his lap after going wide and clipping the gravel exiting Lesmo-2, as highlighted by Federico Albano with his usual telemetry:

12:47 – Franco Colapinto sets the pace in 1:23.766, followed by Liam Lawson just 3 thousandths behind on equal Medium tires. But Kimi Antonelli is already on the way with fresh Softs…

12:46 – The Saturday morning also starts for Antonelli, Verstappen, Leclerc and Hamilton: new Soft tires for all, except Verstappen, who debuts on Mediums. Only Norris, Piastri and Russell are still in the pits.

12:43 – We start to see some activity on track with Alonso taking fourth place on Soft tires behind Colapinto and with Albon, Ocon, Bearman, Stroll, Perez, Bottas and Lawson starting today’s work.

12:41 – Pierre Gasly further improves lowering to 1:23.878.

12:38 – First timed laps with Pierre Gasly leading the operations in 1:25.349 on Medium tires. Then Sainz, on Softs, and Colapinto who however has done only three very slow laps without ever pushing.

12:34 – Same work program also for Nico, who after a slow lap on Mediums returned to the pits for a tire change and to be pushed again in the garage. On track now Colapinto, Gasly and Sainz, while Albon was about to enter the track and was already in the pit lane, but was brought back inside the garage.

12:32 – Nico Hulkenberg also starts today’s work, also on new Medium tires. Actually Bortoleto did a slow lap on track and immediately returned to the pits.

12:30 – Green light and we’re off! FP3 of the 2026 Italian GP in Monza starts. The first to go out on track is Gabriel Bortoleto with the Audi, equipped with new Medium tires.

12:25 – Meanwhile, a few minutes ago, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri starred in the Fan Zone in a race of… acrobatic pizza tossing. We await the mandolin tests to see who will be the final winner.

12:20 – If you are in Monza or near the Autodrome, you already know: the weekend is scorching with the arrival of the billionth heatwave of this summer. 30 degrees air temperature, 49 the asphalt temperature, and no risk that some passing cloud will give some relief during the day.

F1 Italian GP, FP3 live

Good morning and happy Saturday morning to all of you, dear FormulaPassionati! We are live to tell you about the FP3 of the Italian GP F1 weekend, which will start at 12:30 and end exactly one hour later. Friday has already given us some interesting indications, but it is only from today that things get serious, with the last free practice session that will serve to define the last setup details to allow the drivers to perform at their best for the afternoon qualifying and Sunday’s race.

In FP2 the fastest was George Russell, followed closely by the Ferrari of a Charles Leclerc already looking particularly in shape and the twin Mercedes of Andrea Kimi Antonelli, while Lewis Hamilton – who had finished second in FP1 behind his teammate – ended Friday in fifth place, also behind the McLaren of Lando Norris.
