A subdued world champion
Certainly the Australian Grand Prix did not smile upon McLaren and Lando Norris, who qualified sixth and finished fifth, 51 seconds behind the winner George Russell, who also has the same engine as the papaya cars.
Norris was never in the fight for the victory in Melbourne and indeed, the wide gap seen in the race does not allow for flights of optimism in Woking.

Norris highlights Ferrari
During the post-race, Lando Norris told Sky Deutschland he wanted to praise the quality of the SF-26: “In my opinion, from what we are seeing, Ferrari clearly has the best car. Their cornering speeds are incredible. At the moment we have no chance of matching them, and we have to work hard to understand things and learn as much as possible.”

Norris is clear in evaluating the current potential of his McLaren: “We are at least five or six tenths of a second per lap slower” and even harsher on the new regulations: “I find everything very artificial and it depends on what the power unit decides, sometimes randomly. We did our best, but we are very far away.”
