Pecco still on the ground
Francesco Bagnaia also fell today in the GP as already happened in Silverstone following a really strange dynamic attributable to the fact that, as Pecco explained, at this moment he is not a rider who drives the bike, but a simple passenger who is taken ‘for a ride’ by a Ducati he no longer recognizes.
“Things I could easily do a few years ago now seem impossible – Bagnaia explained to the microphones of Sky – I started quite well, I tried to follow the group ahead, but I had no grip. I switched to map ‘B’ to be gentler on the tire, but despite this I was still stuck there, when I went on the gas I stayed still, and when I entered Curve-9, it was already two laps that I was doing like this, but I was just trying to maintain the pace, I had a lot of floating, and so the moment I put it to the left it slid behind, and when it came back the front closed on me.”
“I believe this is one of the lowest moments at a sporting level – Bagnaia added – I do my best, but the best allows me a twelfth, tenth place, but I recognize extremely from the data and from my feeling that I am not riding the bike, I am being taken around because when I try to do something more I still fall, and even going slow I still fall and fortunately there is the data but there is my awareness and that is something that cheers me because all the difficulties and all the things I can’t do, even looking at the data of the other Ducati riders, I could easily do a few years ago, so that is definitely something I know I haven’t lost, but at this moment I just can’t perform as I expect.”

Bagnaia in any case does not lose optimism ahead of Misano: “I am an incurable optimist and I start from home with the idea of a bike that follows me, that I can ride naturally and I try to do my best. Then unfortunately sometimes it comes, sometimes it doesn’t and lately, especially in the last two races, something strange has happened because I just can’t go anymore. So I arrive at Misano with all the motivation in the world, we will be on a track I know well, it will be very difficult because at Misano if the situation is this it becomes really even more difficult, but we will do our best.”
