MotoGP, anonymous Martin in the Sprint
In the Aragon weekend we are certainly not seeing the best version of Jorge Martin. The World Championship leader seems like a completely different rider compared to Silverstone, and not only because MotorLand is a circuit that suits Ducati better. The Spaniard was the worst among the RS-GP26 ridden by regular riders in Qualifying, and also in the Sprint he confirmed having very little pace.

In the short race, Martin started and finished fifth despite Raul Fernandez’s crash, showing he does not have the pace of the top three nor Pedro Acosta. But number 89 sees the classic glass half full.
Martin’s words
“I think it was a good result. Considering how the weekend is going, being in the top 5 is not bad at all,” this was his comment to Sky Sport MotoGP. “I think this track is not fantastic for me, and without ever having ridden the Aprilia I am suffering a bit more, but we have to work and we are doing it. I hope tomorrow we can take another step forward.”
“I am struggling a bit with the front, after a few laps I feel I start to lose the front, I have no grip and I can’t push. We have to understand how to improve in that phase to have more cornering speed. In the first laps I was really close, but then when the front drops I have to survive and bring the bike home. I think it has been a difficult weekend, but from yesterday morning until today I have always shortened the gap with the riders ahead. Tomorrow with the medium tyre I think that distance can be even smaller,” he added.
With the fifth win in five races at Aragón as a Ducati rider, Marc Marquez took home the first 12 points of the weekend, so Martin lost seven points to his compatriot. Now the World Championship leader’s gap is 29 points over Marco Bezzecchi and 33 points over the world champion.
