Marc’s gift
Alex Marquez completed the family party in Aragon, finishing in second position in the Sprint behind his brother Marc and ahead of Marco Bezzecchi. Everything was decided at the start, when the duel between #93 and #72 allowed the Gresini team rider to climb to second position, a placement that Alex Marquez then defended until the checkered flag.
“Yes, the first corner opened up the opportunity for me to take that second place – commented Alex Marquez to the microphones of Sky Sport MotoGP – when I saw Marc attack I opened the door and said to myself, ‘ok, prepare the exit and try to pass at least one, or maybe even both’. But Marc was already too far ahead and in the end the race was decided there. After that I did three laps closing the doors a bit because I knew Marco had the soft and that for him that was the moment to attack. Then I kept the pace quite well until the end and I am happy, because honestly today I expected third place and not to fight with those two“.

Hard-earned second place
According to Alex Marquez, the weather conditions and those of the Aragon track helped him defend the position from Bezzecchi’s attacks until the checkered flag: “I think Marco was faster than me – the Spaniard acknowledged – but the problem is that with this heat when you get a little closer to another bike everything becomes very difficult: the front closes and when the temperature rises too much the tire enters a negative spiral and every lap gets worse. So for that reason it was very difficult to overtake, but I think both Marc and Marco had more than me“.
