Last chance for Ferrari?
The Italian GP in Monza takes on a crucial importance to establish what the true ambitions of Ferrari will be in this final part of the 2026 F1 World Championship. Currently, the Maranello team has won two races and is -59 points behind Lewis Hamilton in the Drivers’ standings and -87 points behind Mercedes in the Constructors’ championship.
In Monza, Ferrari will introduce the power unit equipped with the ADUO-2, the second and final ‘token’ allowed by the regulations after the one that debuted in Austria. The expected quality leap of the SF-26 engine on paper will complete what is effectively an excellent car, especially in race pace.
According to Ivan Capelli, Monza represents a watershed race for Ferrari: “At the moment I see Ferrari on the fringes of the title fight – said Capelli as a Sky commentator – at Monza an emotional sprint is played to believe until the end of the year.”
“Ferrari has brought many updates, it has not stood by watching like a year ago – added Capelli – it must find a way to capitalize as McLaren manages to do, which immediately gains great benefits when it brings novelties.”
