Renault 5 2026, more range and new colors

Time for renewal for Renault 5. A light renewal, which essentially consists of an increase in range and a greater choice of colors for the exterior paint. In particular, after two years of marketing, the small retro-designed electric car from the French manufacturer has been made more efficient thanks to new, more elegant rearview mirrors and lower bodywork finishes. Two elements that now allow it to travel slightly more kilometers on a single charge.

Renault 5 is renewed

In particular, the base Urban Range version, with a 40 kWh battery, now officially reaches 315 km, 5 km more than before. While the more popular Comfort Range version with 52 kWh has seen its range increase from 410 to 430 km. According to Autocar, in the coming weeks Renault will replace the 40 kWh battery of the base version with the 36.5 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack from the smaller Twingo.

New battery coming

An interesting aspect, since it is said that this battery is denser in energy compared to the current nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) battery. Translated: the car will lose only 10 kilometers of range. Furthermore, it will be able to charge up to 6.6 kW at home or up to 80 kW at a public fast charging station, slightly slower than the other variant. LFP batteries are cheaper than NMC ones, although Renault has not yet confirmed whether this new entry-level model, called Five, will cost less than the current cheaper 5.

More colors to choose from

We also talked about new colors. A new shade of red appears, taken from the Nissan Micra EV, closely related to the 5, which is produced in Douai, France. Not only that: buyers can now also request a roof with a star pattern and choose a gray roof line, in addition to red. The Techno and Iconic trims instead offer the possibility to choose gold alloy wheels, which combined with the midnight blue paint recall those fitted on the Clio Williams of the 90s. Finally, inside, the seats of the Iconic cars are now finished in blue and gray, instead of yellow.
